Wiener Dog Dash Race Information

<p><span style="font-size:14pt">Celebrate Oktoberfest with our 2nd annual Wiener Dog Dash and costume contest! This fun event will take place at Canteen Brewhouse 2381 Aztec Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107 on Saturday, October 4th from 12-3pm. Whether your Dachshund is a racing champion or just loves to strut their stuff, this event is all about fun and community. Grab your pup, your friends, and join us for some lighthearted competition and Oktoberfest cheer!</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong>Registration is required t</strong><strong>o participate in this event.</strong> <strong>Day of registration will not be available for the Wiener Dog Dash</strong>. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong>Registration- $25 per wiener dog, which includes the Wiener Dog Dash, a beer, a hot dog, dog treats, and an Oktoberfest Mug.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong>Prizes for will be awarded for the top 3 quickest wiener dogs!</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong>Check in for the Wiener Dog Dash- Saturday, October 4th from 12-12:45pm. Details will be emailed prior to the event, but you must check in to receive your goodies and heat number.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong>Races Begin at 1pm.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong>Costume Contest Judging- Judging will take place after all of the wiener dogs have raced. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed wiener dogs post-race.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt">Participation in the costume contest is optional and dogs may remove their costumes before they race. We will allow dogs to put on their costumes prior to the judging.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong>WIENER DOG RACE RULES</strong></span></p> <ul><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">All dogs must be well behaved, up to date on vaccinations, and healthy.</span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">All dogs must be at least 6 months old and have received all of their shots. </span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">In celebration of Oktoberfest and German heritage, dogs must be a Dachshund or dachshund mix that displays the characteristics of a Dachshund: floppy eared hound with a long, low body type. </span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">The Wiener Dog Dash will take place on a closed racetrack that is approximately 20 yards long.</span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">Each heat will consist of 5 or 6 dogs and the fastest wiener in each heat will advance to the final.</span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">NO FOOD or TREATS are allowed in the race area!</span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">You may bring your dog’s favorite toy, ball, or stuffed animal to entice your dog from the finish line.</span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">NO Flashlights or laser pointers allowed.</span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">NO throwing toys or balls down the racetrack.</span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">All dogs must be on a leash when not participating in their race. </span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">Owners are required to clean up after their pet. </span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">Each dog must have two people to participate in the race. One as a releaser and one to catch the dog at the finish line.</span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">Only dogs participating in the race are allowed in the beer garden before and during the race.</span></li><li style="font-size:14pt"><span style="font-size:14pt">This is a fun family friendly event to celebrate our love of wieners! Any participant (dog or owner) that isn&#39;t following these rules will be disqualified.</span></li></ul> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong>We can&#39;t wait to celebrate the fastest and best dressed wieners! </strong></span></p> <p>**Anyone drinking alcohol must be 21.
