<p>EVENT DETAILS<br />Join us for a timed 5k, casual fun run/walk, scavenger hunt, face painting, raffles and more! All proceeds benefit The Cure Starts Now to fund pediatric brain cancer research in honor of Sophie, Elena, Cece, Jack, Lauren, Wyatt, Erin, Sarah, Reese, and all children battling cancers.</p> <p>Sophie’s Angel Run has been a staple of the West Side of Cincinnati since 2007. The 5K Run/Walk takes place in Bridgetown, OH and annually attracts thousands of families, friends and runners. </p> <p>The Meinhardt Family originally started the event after losing their daughter Sophie to a rare and aggressive brain tumor. The community rallied behind them in order to honor Sophie and raise money for medical research and educational scholarships. In 2021 the campaign was able to raise over $85,000 which benefitted Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and $5,000 in scholarships to students of several local catholic schools.  </p> <p>“Immediately after Sophie died it was so important for us to not only let everyone know what happened but to also celebrate her life. Anyone that knew Sophie knew she was full of life. Sophie never stopped moving during her 18 months on earth. One of her favorite things to do was to ride in the double jogging stroller with her big sister Mia while their Daddy ran. Sophie was a happy little girl who was loved every minute of every day”.  Mark and Missy Meinhardt, Parents</p> <p>In 2022 the event has been renamed “The Angel Run” and event coordination turned over to the families of The Cure Starts Now.
