<p>Run, walk, or jog in the 15th annual Daily News Press Run to support the Newspapers In Education program on <b>Saturday, October 31, 2026</b>. <br />Featuring certified <b>Galveston Causeway</b> 5K and 10K courses, a Kid&#39;s 1K sponsored by Whataburger, a book character costume contest, dozens of vendor booths, music, food, and much more. We have a big event planned for you!<br /> <br /><i><b>Support Newspapers in Education</b></i><br />The Daily News Press Run provides support to the Newspapers in Education program (NIE). NIE provides resources that use the newspaper to develop reading comprehension skills, critical thinking, and a better understanding of the way the world relates to the classroom. We have a waiting list of teachers who want to join and need your help to make the program a success for the upcoming school year.</p> <p><b>Parking Information</b><br />Runners&#39; parking is available at Target Parking Lot 6128 Broadway, Galveston, TX 77551. Shuttle buses will run from 5:00 am to noon. Please allow yourself ample time to get checked in and warm up.</p> <p><b>Bag Drop Off</b><br />Bag drop is available at the info station for a $5 donation to Newspapers In Education program.</p> <p><b>Costume Contest</b><br />Dress up as your favorite book character as we celebrate Literacy Day with our Smart Family Literacy, Inc. Partners. The first, second, and third place winners will win a special prize donated by local merchants. The contest is divided into two groups children and adults.
