<p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong><span style="color:rgb( 1 , 164 , 144 )">Triathlon Format and Schedule</span></strong></span><span style="text-decoration:underline;font-size:14pt"><strong><br /></strong></span><span style="font-size:12pt">The Ann Arbor YMCA Indoor Triathlon includes three timed segments completed in order:<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt"><strong>Swim</strong></span><br /><span style="font-size:12pt">15-minute timed swim</span><br /><span style="font-size:12pt">Total pool lengths completed will be recorded</span><br /><span style="font-size:12pt"><strong>Bike</strong></span><br /><span style="font-size:12pt">25-minute timed indoor bike</span><br /><span style="font-size:12pt">Total distance completed will be recorded</span><br /><span style="font-size:12pt"><strong>Run</strong></span><br /><span style="font-size:12pt">20-minute timed treadmill run</span><br />Total distance completed will be recorded<br /><span style="font-size:12pt"><em><strong>Athletes will have 10 minutes of transition time between each segment.</strong></em></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong><span style="color:rgb( 1 , 164 , 144 )">Triathlon Age Requirements<br /></span></strong></span><span style="font-size:12pt;color:rgb( 0 , 0 , 0 )">Participants in the Ann Arbor YMCA Indoor Triathlon must be at least 8 years old. Participants ages 8-12 must have a parent or guardian accompany them throughout the entire Triathlon. <br /><br /></span><span style="font-size:14pt"><span style="color:rgb( 1 , 164 , 144 )"></span></span><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong><span style="color:rgb( 1 , 164 , 144 )">Waves and Start Times</span></strong></span><span style="text-decoration:underline;font-size:14pt"><strong><br /></strong></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- Each wave will include 12 participants<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- Wave start times are selected during the registration process but are subject to change based on final registration totals<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- Participants must be in the family pool area 10 minutes before their scheduled wave start time to attend the mandatory safety briefing<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- Athletes who miss the safety briefing will be moved to a later wave if space is available</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong><span style="color:rgb( 1 , 164 , 144 )">Scoring and Awards</span></strong></span><span style="text-decoration:underline;font-size:14pt"><strong><br /></strong></span><span style="font-size:12pt">Total scores are calculated using the following point system:<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- <strong>Swim:</strong> number of pool lengths multiplied by 1 point<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- <strong>Bike: </strong>miles completed multiplied by 10 points<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- <strong>Run: </strong>miles completed multiplied by 25 points<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt"><br />Awards will be given to the top three participants in the following categories:<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- <strong>Collegiate</strong><br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- <strong>Public Competitive</strong><br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- <strong>Public General<br /></strong></span><span style="font-size:12pt">The award ceremony will take place in the Ann Arbor YMCA gymnasium following the conclusion of the final waves.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong><span style="color:rgb( 1 , 164 , 144 )">Recovery Zone and Post-Race Experience</span></strong></span><span style="text-decoration:underline;font-size:14pt"><strong><br /></strong></span><span style="font-size:12pt">After completing the Indoor Triathlon, participants are encouraged to head to the Recovery Zone in the gymnasium. The Recovery Zone is a space to relax, refuel, and celebrate your accomplishment (You finished a triathlon after all!). It will include:<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- Water and light recovery snacks<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- A dedicated stretching and recovery area<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- A photo backdrop for post-race pictures</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong><span style="color:rgb( 1 , 164 , 144 )">Spectators</span></strong></span><span style="text-decoration:underline;font-size:14pt"><strong><br /></strong></span><span style="font-size:12pt">Due to space limitations, spectators are not able to watch the entire triathlon. Spectators are welcome to cheer on athletes during the swim portion from the natatorium seating and join athletes in the gymnasium for the Recovery Zone and award ceremony.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:14pt"><strong><span style="color:rgb( 1 , 164 , 144 )">Event Day Information and FAQs</span></strong></span><span style="text-decoration:underline;font-size:14pt"><strong><br /></strong></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- There is no packet pickup. Additional race details, including wave assignments and start times, will be sent via email.<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- The YMCA building will open at 7:00 am on Sunday. Participants should arrive in the lobby 10 minutes before their wave start time.<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- Personal items may be carried between events or stored in a locker if you bring a lock.<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- All participants and spectators that are not YMCA Members must bring a valid photo ID to gain access to the building.<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- Participants will share a lane during the swim. No circle swimming will be used.<br /></span><span style="font-size:12pt">- In the event of inclement weather or pool mechanical issues, the Ann Arbor YMCA Indoor Triathlon will be rescheduled.</span></p>
