<h5><b><span style="color:#843fa1"><u>ABOUT CUMBEE CENTER</u></span></b></h5> <p><span style="color:#000000">The Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons is a nonprofit agency whose mission is to support and empower domestic violence and sexual violence victims and their families by providing services, reducing the tolerance of abuse, and advocating for social change. We are a safe haven for those fleeing from abuse.  We offer confidential, comprehensive and highly specialized services 24-hours everyday that are completely free.</span></p> <h5><span style="text-decoration:underline;color:#843fa1"><strong>INTRO</strong></span></h5> <p><span style="color:#000000">Attracting runners from all over the CSRA and the state of SC, the Whiskey Road Race has been an Aiken tradition for over 40 years. The Whiskey Road Race is our annual fundraiser which allows us to continue our vital services to victims of domestic and sexual violence in the 6 counties we serve. The funds raised by this race allows us to continue operating our agency and providing hope and new beginnings to those who have suffered abuse.</span></p> <p><span style="color:rgb( 0 , 0 , 0 )">In 2024, the Cumbee Center served 802 new survivors of domestic violence and 91 new survivors of sexual assault, providing over 9300 units of service to more than 1600 individuals. We provided 162 survivors, 2550 nights of safety at our emergency shelter; 6 families housing stability through financial assistance; and 115 survivors counseling. We maintained our footprint in six counties and received in kind donations from over 150 community members or partners. The work we are doing today is only possible because of your support. Together.</span></p> <h5><span style="text-decoration:underline"><strong><span style="color:#843fa1;text-decoration:underline">WHAT IS THE WHISKEY ROAD RACE?</span> </strong></span></h5> <p><span style="color:#000000">The 10K race course takes runners down Whiskey Road, through Aiken’s historic horse district, winding itself through scenic and popular South Boundary Avenue. This beautiful course is designed to challenge runners and walkers alike through the event options of a 10K or 5K, providing a fun and exciting atmosphere for all who attend.  The 5K and 10K are officially timed with chip timing.  A digital clock will be displayed. Water will be provided on the course. </span></p> <h5><span style="color:#843fa1"><u><b>WHAT PARTICIPANT AMENITIES WILL I RECEIVE?</b></u></span></h5> <p><span style="color:#000000;background-color:#ffffff">Participants registered for the 5K or 10K will receive a swag bag that includes a bib, shirt and other goodies. Participants registered for the 1 Mile and Tot Trot can purchase a swag bag that includes a shirt and other goodies. We will have an in-person pickup on Thursday, October 30th at Academy Sports from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and on Saturday, November 1st at Odell Weeks from 6:45 am to 7:45 am. (Participants registering after 10/15/2025 are not guaranteed a shirt.) </span></p> <h5><span style="text-decoration:underline"><strong><span style="color:#843fa1;text-decoration:underline">WILL THERE BE AWARDS?</span></strong></span></h5> <p><span style="color:#000000">Awards will be given for the top overall 5K/10K male and female finishers and the top 3 male and top 3 female finishers per age category for the 5K/10K.  Awards will begin no later than 10:00 am. </span></p> <h5><b><span style="color:#843fa1"><u>REGISTRATION</u></span></b></h5> <p><span style="color:#000000">Online registration closes on Tuesday, October 28th at 10:00 pm. In-person registration is available on Thursday, October 30th at Academy Sports from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, during swag bag/bib pick up. In-person registration is also available on Saturday, November 1st (race day morning) from 6:45 am to 7:45 am. Late entries will not be accepted.</span></p> <h5><b><span style="color:#843fa1"><u>RACE DAY </u></span></b></h5> <ul><li><span style="color:#000000">Race day registration closes at 8:00 am. Late entries will not be accepted.  </span></li><li><span style="color:#000000">Race day check-in must be done by 8:10 am. This is not required if you pre check-in at Academy Sports on October 30th.  </span></li><li><span style="color:#000000">10K and 5K begin promptly at 8:30 am. </span></li><li><span style="color:#000000">1-Mile Fun Run begins at 9:30 am. </span></li><li><span style="color:#000000">Tot Trot begins begin at 9:30 am.</span></li></ul>
