About Texas Canyon Mountain Bike Race

The Amerind Museum presents the 7th Annual Texas Canyon Mountain Bike Ride. Here’s your chance to intimately experience this awe-inspiring region that is normally closed to Bikes. Come out and ride a scenic course in beautiful Texas Canyon. Participation in the event enables Amerind to further its mission of fostering and promoting knowledge and understanding of the Native Peoples of the Americas through research, education, conservation, and community engagement.

The race starts at 10:00 a.m. for the 4 laps (42 mile) division and 10:10 am for the 2 laps (21 mile) division. Fun Ride (6.2 miles) (non-competitive & E-bikes welcome) will start at 9:00 am (you have 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete 6.2 miles)

The Race Course

NEW RACE COURSE IN 2026 ~ SEE UPDATED MAP

The race will still be held entirely within Texas Canyon on the Amerind Foundation property.

Riders can choose from 4 different events:

Little Tykes Fun Loop:  Kids 8 and under can have a blast rolling around a short course of approximately .25 miles under mom and dad's watchful supervision.  This is non-competitive and entirely to let the kids get in on the day's fun. Participation medals will be given to all little riders!

The Friends of Amerind Fun Ride: Fun and non-technical 6.2-mile course that covers much of the Amerind Museum property.  Riders will get a chance to challenge themselves on the dirt roads in and around the Amerind, while taking in the sights and gaining bragging rights for their efforts. E-bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes are all welcome.

The Lockett Rocket Short Course:  Racers will do two laps (21 miles of jeep trails and single track).  Awards for both men and women age groups and overall. No e-bikes.

The Fulton Full Course: Racers will do four laps (42 miles of jeep trails and single track).  Awards for both men and women age groups and overall. No e-bikes.

We believe you will experience mountain biking at its best courses that take you through spectacular Texas Canyon in areas that will only be open to mountain bikes on race day. This year's event will be made up of Jeep roads and Single track. Helmets are required. Please remember no dogs and no headsets, in compliance with our insurance requirements---- you will really want to be “in the moment” anyway. The course is gravel and mountain bike friendly; e-bikes are permitted to participate ONLY in the non-competitive division.)
