<p>The Statesboro 5K Turkey Trot is an annual fundraising event for the <a href="https://www.bulloch.k12.ga.us/community-partnerships/bulloch-county-foundation-for-public-education" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bulloch County Foundation for Public School Education.</a> All proceeds are used to fund the Foundation&#39;s innovation grants for teachers, college scholarships for Bulloch County&#39;s REACH Georgia Scholars, and support the Bulloch County Teacher of the Year and Bulloch County STAR Student/Teacher programs. Thank you for your participation. Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of teachers and students.</p> <p>We encourage you to register as an individual or gather friends and co-workers and register as a team of five or more people to receive a discount. Also, you can also register children 12 years old and younger for the Fun Run, which is a 100-yard dash prior to the main race. </p> <p><u><b>Registration</b></u></p> <ul><li><b>August 1, 2025 - Registration Opens</b></li><li><b>October 31, 2025 - Register by this date to guarantee a t-shirt size</b></li><li><b>November 1, 2025 - Registration pricing increases by $5 on this date at 11:59 p.m.</b></li><li><b>November 8, 2025 - Register by this date to receive a t-shirt; Sizes not guaranteed after Oct. 31.</b></li><li><b>November 14, 2025 - Register by this date to be able to pick up your race packet early.</b></li><li><b>November 21, 2025 - Early Packet Pick Up for pre-registered participants who registered by November 14, 2025. Early race packet pick up is scheduled for Friday, November 21, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Bulloch County Board of Education, located at 150 Williams Road, in Statesboro, GA. Contact 912.212.8512 or email foundationbcpe&#64;bullochschools.org</p> <p><b>Race Route</b></p> <p>Set in the heart of downtown Statesboro&#39;s historic retail and residential neighborhoods, it’s fun for the whole family. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome. Wagons, strollers and even family-friendly canines on leashes are welcome. Walk as an individual or form a team. The route is available digitally on Run Sign Up.</p> <p><b>Bulloch County Foundation for Public Education</b></p> <p>The Bulloch County Foundation for Public School Education, which is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, hosts the event each year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The Foundation is managed by a 12-member board of trustees who meets monthly. </p> <p>Since 2006, the Bulloch County Foundation for Public Education has funded more than 300 innovative classroom teacher grants totaling more than $385,625 to provide learning experiences for Bulloch County children.</p> <p>The Foundation gives individuals, businesses, industries and civic organizations a way to invest in local education programs that benefit public, charter, private and home-schooled students. The Foundation’s two major fundraising campaigns are the Statesboro 5K Turkey Trot, donations, and Bulloch County Schools’ Payroll deduction option for employees.</p> <p>The Foundation funds Bulloch County School’s annual participation in the REACH Georgia Scholarship Program with a $5,000 annual seed capital contribution for five new scholars each year. As a result, when scholars graduate, they receive a $10,000 scholarship to attend a Georgia college or technical college of their choice. The scholarship is in addition to any HOPE scholarship or other private scholarships they may earn. To date, the Foundation has helped 62 scholars, many of whom are first generation college students.</p> <p>The Foundation is the local underwriting sponsor for the Professional Association of Georgia Educators&#39; STAR Student/Teacher program. The Foundation’s financial support makes this program possible locally for Bulloch County’s public, private and charter schools.<br /> <br />The Foundation is also one of the main corporate sponsors for Bulloch County Schools’ Teacher of the Year program. The Foundation annually provides a $4,500 in stipend awards to the district&#39;s 15 school-level teachers of the year.</p> <p>The Foundation also provides administrative services to hold the endowments of several other local college scholarships created by local citizens.</p>
