<div><h4>Description</h4><p><div><div><div><div><div>This course is designed to certify participants as a Starfish Swimming Instructor (SSI) in the<span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 153);"> Swim School</span> portion of the program. Participants will learn the skills and techniques required to successfully teach swimming lessons. All candidates will be required to complete approximately 8 hours of on-line training prior to the first water session. Participants will receive a link from their instructor on the first day of Orientation which will give them access to the on-line portion of class. Anyone interested in teaching swimming lessons with the City of Phoenix must have a Starfish Swimming instructor (Swim School) certification.</div><div><br></div><div><b><i>If you are planning to apply for a position with the City of Phoenix, you must also be certified as a lifeguard with StarGuard Elite to be hired.</i></b></div><div><br></div><div>Prerequisites: Must be 15 years old prior to the last day of class and be able to successfully complete the pre-course swimming skills test.</div><div><br></div><div>This pool is heated and the majority of all in person sessions will be conducted in the water. Swimsuit, towels and water are required for every class.
