<p><strong>Newk&#39;s Cares Story:</strong></p> <p><span style="text-decoration:underline">Our annual 5K will benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (501c3). </span>Ovarian cancer hits close to home for the Newk’s family. Lori Newcomb – Co-founder of Newk’s Cares and wife of Newk’s Eatery Co-founder and CEO, Chris Newcomb – was diagnosed with stage IIIC ovarian cancer in February 2013. Her story is all too familiar for many women, as one in 70 will develop this disease. It is the fifth leading cause of death in women. We at Newk’s Eatery look forward to your help in participating in a fun, positive event that benefits OCRA, the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while supporting women and their families.</p> <p>20,000 women are diagnosed with OC this year and less than half will survive the next 5 years.   </p> <p>Saturday, Sept 27th, 2025.  Spring Lake Park. 9:00am Race Start.  7:45-8:45- Race Registration</p> <p>What: Run TEAL We Find a Cure 5K Race</p> <p>GOAL- $5000</p> <p>Where: Spring Lake Park, Texarkana Tx.</p> <p>When: September 27th, 2025.  9:00 am start time. Pre-registration 7:30-8:45am</p> <p>Award Ceremony immediately following last runner</p> <p>Medals awarded to Overall Male/Female. Top 3 finishers in 12-29, 30-49, 50&#43; age categories</p> <p>How: Timing and race route provided by Mike Riley. </p> <p>Runners will be required to sign a waiver at time of registration, under 18 must have parent signature. </p> <p>Everyone at Newk’s Eatery is committed to supporting ovarian cancer research and awareness, and with each community’s support, every woman can have a fighting chance.</p>
