RACE ON THE RUNWAY

Whether you are a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to experience the Currituck County Campus and regional airport, these courses will deliver!  This event is a collaboration between multiple organizations, and we are proud to offer a variety of races including a 1-mile fun run a 5k as well as a scenic 10-k.

We are honored to support Kids First, Inc. whose mission is to provide Help, Healing, and Hope to children in northeastern North Carolina who have been abused or neglected.  Please know that 100% of the proceeds from this event will go directly to Kids First, Inc.

Runners and walkers' welcome!  We recommend that strollers and dogs (leash required) start at the back.   If you don't have a pup and want to walk one, let us know and the local animal shelter will provide a friendly dog that will certainly enjoy the experience with you!

These challenging courses are very unique; maps are soon to come!  The 10K and 5k go down a taxiway around hangars back onto a taxiway, then out onto a mix of trails, dirt and pave roads.  You may see wildlife as you go around several ponds.

Award Categories/Divisions: 

Tarmac10k:

Overall Male and Female -- Propeller Trophy

Age Division -- Trophies to first 2 male and first 2 female finishers in each age category - 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & up; 

Trophies awarded to top male and top female active military or veteran. -- Propeller Trophy
 

5k:

Overall Male and Female -- Propeller Trophy

Age Division -- Trophies to first 2 male and  first 2 female finishers in each age category - 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & up;
 

1 mile Taxi-Trot: All competitors will receive their pilot's wings and race medal.  

Wheelchair Division:  Top Male and Top Female.  

Also, the Cloud Commander Award recognizes the youngest participant to cross ANY finish line.

**All finishers in each race will receive a race medal.    Due to when the shirts have to be ordered once we reach 200 participants shirts are not included in the registration price.  Proceeds will go to Kids First.

Stay after the race to enjoy the free Planes and Plows festival which will host multiple vendors, games, food trucks and plane rides.  There is a parade at 10:30 and an airshow around 1:30 p.m.
