Valerie Lovelace was the grassroots leader and organizer from 2014 through the passage of the law that she co-authored in 2019. She is the founder and executive director of Maine Death with Dignity, a 501(c)(3) non-profit serving the people of Maine. Val has a Master’s degree from Husson University in Human Relations with an emphasis on counseling and pastoral care. She is an ordained interfaith chaplain and a retired Navy veteran of 20 years.
