Bernard Greene Memorial 5K Race Information

Come join us for the Bernard Greene Memorial 5K! The race starts at 9:30 AM on October 17th, 2026, at Deep Run Park. Registration is $40 per person, and all proceeds benefit the alumni and current participants of the Henrico Circuit Court Recovery Court, Henrico General District Court Veterans Treatment Court, and the Henrico Behavioral Health Docket. Funds raised support sober activities, graduation celebrations, family days, and other recovery-focused programming that encourages continued growth, connection, and success for participants and their families. A T-shirt is included with each registration. This event is named after our previous Administrator, Bernard L. Greene, Jr., who passed away on March 7, 2019. Mr. Greene joined the then “drug court” team as a Clinician in 2008 and was promoted to Administrator in April 2017. In his short 48 years of life, Mr. Greene touched the hearts of many people and helped others change their lives for the better. He led by example and did so with a smile, always. One well-known aspect of his life was that he loved to stay active and push himself physically. He enjoyed running, cycling, and spending time outdoors. We couldn’t think of a better way to continue supporting his legacy, one he cemented years ago through his dedication to service and recovery, than by naming our annual 5K event after him. An event centered on physical activity that benefits individuals facing addiction, behavioral health challenges, and the unique struggles experienced by justice-involved veterans is truly right up his alley. Henrico County Recovery Court has been in operation since 2003 and is dedicated to enhancing public safety through assessments and community supervision guided by best practices. The Henrico General District Court Specialty Courts: The Veterans Treatment Court and Henrico Behavioral Health Docket similarly focus on reducing recidivism and improving outcomes through accountability, treatment, and supportive services tailored to participants’ needs. Together, these specialty dockets strive to promote rehabilitation, stability, and long-term recovery through timely intervention and comprehensive support. Please support our efforts to promote community engagement and fellowship while raising funds to support our participants and alumni. There will be a bounce house, raffles, music, and more!
