<h2><strong>Coming in 2026 our 5K on the Runway on Sat. May 2nd!</strong></h2> <p><strong>---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------</strong></p> <h2><strong>How EXCITING it will be to run on our airport runway!!!</strong></h2> <p>Take off on Saturday, May 2, 2026, for the 2026 5K on the Runway, presented by the Evansville<br />Wartime Museum, benefiting the Evansville P-47 Foundation, Inc. giving runners a unique<br />view of the airport and the Evansville Wartime Museum, while having fun and supporting a<br />great, local organization.<br /><br />At 9am join hundreds of runners and walkers as they take off from the Evansville<br />Wartime Museum with supporters cheering everyone along. The route will take you along the<br />Evansville Regional Airport runways, taxiways, and ramps, while catching a glimpse at the Air<br />Traffic Control Tower and the Airport Safety Department. You will see the Evansville built P-47<br />Thunderbolt, “Hoosier Spirit II,&#34; as well as the 1943 Chrysler M4AF Sherman Tank, “Rosie’s<br />Revenge.”<br /><br /></p> <p><strong>You will be Making a difference:<br /></strong>All proceeds from the 5K on the Runway will support the mission of the P-47 Foundation<br />by protecting and procuring in perpetuity the P-47 Thunderbolt in an effort to honor those<br />who served and to educate current and future generations in the sense of community price,<br />recognition and respect attributed to all who sacrificed in the name of Freedom.<br />Stick around afterwards for award presentations, delicious food, coffee, and vendors with their<br />running apparel and other community programs.<br /><br /><strong>Date and Location:<br /></strong>Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Evansville Wartime Museum, 7503 Petersburg Road, Evansville, IN 47725.<br /><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline">5K run will be at 9am</span> </strong>and <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline">1 mile will be held at 9:05 am</span></strong> <br /><br />The <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline">1-mile walk will be held at 9:05am</span></strong> and, on a separate part of the runway.  <strong>This event is limited to 85 participants. After that is reach registration will close automatically. </strong><br /><br />The <span style="text-decoration:underline"><strong>Kid’s Dash race will be held at 8:30 am</strong></span> at the Evansville Wartime Museum.  <strong>This event is limited to 70 participants. After that is reach registration will close automatically. </strong><br />Registration and Entry Fee:<br /><br />The 5K run and 1 mile walk registration fee is $ 25, until February 14, 2026, and $ 30 afterwards.<br />From May 1 to May 2, 2026, the registration fee increases to $ 35.00.<br />The Kid’s Dash registration fee is $ 5.00 and includes a medal for their<br />participation.<br /><br /><strong>Register by April 12th to guarantee your shirt size. We will order extras but the extras will be at a first come, first pick basis. </strong></p> <p><strong>Shirts are while supplies last, and after April 22, shirts cannot be guaranteed.</strong><br /><br /><strong>Registration on Race Day:<br /></strong>If you decide to join the fun at the last minute, you may register on the north side of the <br />Evansville Wartime museum <strong>on race day from 7:00 to 8:15 am.</strong> <br />You may pay by cash or check and the cost is $ 35.00.<br /><br /><strong>Packet Pickup:</strong></p> <p><strong>It is highly encouraged you pick up your packet on Friday!</strong></p> <p>T-Shirts, race bib numbers and registration packets will be available for pickup on <br /><strong>Friday, May 1, 2026, between 11am-8pm</strong>, and on <strong>Saturday, May 2, 2026 from <br />7:00 am - 8:15am</strong> at the Evansville Wartime Museum, 7503 Petersburg Rd, Evansville, IN 47725. </p> <p>On race day, Sat. May 2nd, registrations will be accepted from 7:00 – 8:15 am at the Evansville Wartime Museum.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Kid’s Dash:</strong><br />Children from the age of 1 to 9 years old may participate in the Kid’s Dash race on their own.<br />Beginning at 8:30 am, the Kid’s Dash race is from 50 meters to 150 meters. All finishers of the<br />Kid’s Dash will receive a medal.<br />1–3-year-olds- 50 meters<br />4- 6-year-olds- 100 meters<br />7- 9-year-olds- 150 meters.<br />The cost is $ 5 per child and includes a medal after each heat.<br /><br /><strong>Awards:</strong><br />First place trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female runners in the 5K run/walk.   <br /><br />First place medals will be given to winners in each age bracket who have participated in the 5K run/walk,<br />Age Groups ( 1st male and female in each group)<br />1-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-99</p> <p>1 mile walkers will each receive a medal for their participation and will not be timed. <br /><br /><strong>Results and Timing:</strong><br />The 5K runners and the 5K runners/walkers will be chip timed. Race results will be available<br />online immediately following the event. Participants will receive results via email if an email<br />address is provided on your entry form.<br /><br /><strong>Please note: ALL REGISTRATIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-</strong><br /><strong>TRANSFERABLE.</strong><br /><br />The race will be officially timed by “To the Finish.”<br />Results will be posted at <a href="https://www.tothefinishtiming.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">www.tothefinishtiming.com</a>.<br /><br /><strong>Race Day:</strong><br />The race must go on!!!
