Description
Get your Dunk On!! Vermillion Parks and Recreation will be hosting a DunkFest 3on3 Tournament November 21st and 22nd at the National Guard Armory.
Games will be scheduled from 5-9:30pm on November 21st and 9am-5pm on November 22nd. Schedules will be sent out prior to November 18th. Schedules may change with number of registered teams. Each division is limited to first 8 teams registered.
Games will be played on a modified full court with 8ft rims for 14-15 and 16-17 age divisions and 8.5ft for the 18+ division.
Below are the Rules:
1. PLAYERS
A. Three (3) players constitute a team. Maximum of five (5) players on team roster.
B. Substitutions: Substitutions will be made during dead balls.
C. All teams must have the SAME colored jerseys or shirts.
2. THE GAME
A. Will be on a modified full court, with baskets on each end.
B. Baskets will be set at:
1. 8ft for 14-15 and 16-17 age divisions
2. 8.5ft for 18+ division
C. Starting the game
1. The game will start with a coin flip
2. Play will be started by the offensive player checking the ball from the top of the key. Teams must pass the ball off the check prior to attempting to score.
a. The ball is put into play from this designated spot following free throw attempts, after violations, and on all out-of-bounds plays.
3. After each score teams will take the ball out from under the basket.
4. Games will be played to 17 or to 25 minutes, whichever comes first.
5. Scoring will be 1pt for made basket and 2pt for made basket beyond the three-point line.
6. Each team will have one (1) thirty (30) second time out per game.
7. Dunking is encouraged, NO HANGING ON THE RIM!
D. Jump balls
1. Jump balls are awarded to the defense including rebounds.
E. Overtime
1. Possessions will be decided by coin flip
2. First to 3pts in overtime wins
3. No timeouts in overtime
3. CONDUCT OF PLAYERS
A. Fouls
1. Officiating: All games are self-officiated. The two teams involved should mediate questions of judgment. Teams will notify the court supervisor to keep track of the total number of fouls.
2. No Free Throws
a. Once a team has reached five (5) team fouls, the opposing team will be automatically awarded 1 point and position of the ball.
B. A court supervisor may call a technical foul for any reason when, in his/her judgment, the situation or play merits calling a technical foul.
1. Technical Fouls
a. On all technical fouls, two (2) points are automatically awarded, and the non-offending team keeps possession of the ball.
b. Unsportsmanlike technical fouls count toward the team foul count.
c. Any player assessed two (2) technical fouls in a game shall be immediately disqualified from the tournament.
d. Any team assessed three (3) technical fouls in a game will be disqualified from the tournament.
2. Examples: unnecessary roughness, abusive language from players, coaches, managers or crowd, coaches running on court during play, intentional tripping, fighting, intentional delay of game other than by regular play, etc.)
C. A court supervisor has the authority to eject anyone from the gym or game; a player, players, coach, manager or fans any time in his/her judgment he/she deems such action is necessary, in order to maintain a wholesome playing situation for other participants in the game. He/she may also terminate the game.
